Chiropractic Care Chiropractic is the largest natural primary health care profession in the world. In Chiropractic, professional responsibility and authority are focused on the anatomy of the spine, immediate articulation and any possible nerve interference. It is also a practice which encompasses educating and advising patients about health by addressing how nerve interference causes disease. Chiropractic is one of the most praised, yet most misunderstood of all the health care disciplines, despite the fact that more than twenty-five million Americans utilize it each year. Chiropractic is practiced by 50,000 doctors around the world and is licensed in every state.

The professional objective of Chiropractic is to correct nerve interference in a safe and effective manner. The nerve interference correction is not considered to be a specific cure for any particular symptom or disease. It is applicable to any patient who exhibits nerve interference regardless of the presence or absence of symptoms or disease.

The purpose of Chiropractic is the correction of nerve interference or Vertebral Subluxation. Nerve interference or Vertebral Subluxation promotes sickness and disease in the body. Nerve interference robs our vitality and weakens our immune system.

The spinal column consists of twenty-four small bones called vertebrae. Seven of these vertebrae are located in the neck. Twelve are found in the mid-back and five are in the lower back. The vertebrae stack one on top of the other, and when you look at them from the front to back, they form a straight line.

It is very rare to find someone with a spine that is perfectly aligned. In most people, the spine curves slightly to the right or to the left and sometimes, one or more of the vertebrae are twisted or rotated.

When the vertebrae are misaligned, the flow of messages from the brain to all the other cells in the body is distorted. This type of nerve interference creates dis-organization of bodily processes and ultimately dis-ease. This misalignment of the vertebrae can often exist undetected and slowly undermine one's health.

Chiropractic Adjustment

At the heart of Chiropractic care is the Chiropractic Adjustment. A Chiropractic Adjustment or Spinal Adjustment is a specific application of force used to facilitate the bodies correction of subluxation or nerve interference. The force applied must be given with the correct amount of pressure in the proper direction at the right time. While it is usually done with the Doctor's hands, adjusting instruments may be used also.

Contrary to popular misinformation, the Doctor of Chiropractic doesn't force the misaligned vertebrae back into place but he or she facilitates the bodies correction of nerve interference. During the adjustment, the subluxated vertebrae are unlocked and released from their misaligned positions. The bodies inborn intelligence is called upon to shape the spine. When this happens, the vertebrae return to their proper alignment and the normal nerve supply is restored. This allows the body to achieve maximum healing potential with a complete nerve supply.

Patients often comment that they experience a better nights sleep and increased energy. Some patients report that their symptoms start to go away after the first adjustment, while other patients do not feel any immediate difference. If you do not feel a change immediately, please do not feel discouraged. Often you are unaware of internal improvements.

If you feel little change, it may be that your general health is very good. The nerve interference may have been caught at an early stage before much damaged occurred. Each person is unique. Our bodies and injuries may be different; however, everyone will benefit from the correction of nerve interference through Chiropractic
